About the Opportunity
A growing Connecticut-based law practice is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in removal defense and family-based immigration matters who is looking to take ownership of a diverse caseload and continue developing their practice.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, compassionate advocate with strong legal writing and courtroom skills. This individual should be comfortable managing cases independently while collaborating closely with attorneys and support staff.
Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload involving a variety of immigration matters
• Represent clients in removal and deportation proceedings
• Handle political asylum and other humanitarian immigration cases
• Prepare and manage family-based immigration and visa petitions
• Work on juvenile immigration matters and related petitions
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents
• Represent clients in immigration court and other applicable proceedings
• Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the legal process
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to ensure efficient case management
• Provide compassionate, client-focused legal representation
• Gain potential exposure to additional practice areas, including personal injury, workers' compensation, criminal defense, and residential real estate
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (JD) required
• Must be admitted and in good standing with the Connecticut Bar
• At least 2 years of immigration law experience preferred
• Experience handling removal defense and family-based immigration matters
• Experience appearing in immigration court
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage a busy caseload
• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
• Compassionate and professional approach to working with clients
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Spanish language skills are strongly preferred but not required
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally as needed
Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary of $100,000–$125,000, depending on experience
